As the New/Newer Judge Mentor and Education Board Member, my goal is to help new judges navigate the process of becoming active participants in our judging community. To support this, I've added a series of resources on our website to guide new judges through the initial steps, including an orientation slideshow and a Google form for experienced judges interested in mentoring.
The mentor program will connect new judges with experienced mentors in their area, providing valuable opportunities for hands-on learning, live practice judging, and guidance throughout their early experiences. Mentors will also have a form to track their volunteer hours.
Additionally, we are working on pairing new judges with experienced judges at the Judges Cup for real-time practice and discussion, without interfering with the meet itself. This initiative is still in progress, but we are excited about the potential to offer this unique learning experience.
I am truly excited about this opportunity to serve on the board for the next two years. Your involvement as a mentor can help ease the anxiety of new judges and ensure they feel supported in their first meets. I look forward to working together to make our community stronger, and I’m eager to see the positive impact this program will have.
